As our cousins across the Atlantic have just celebrated Thanksgiving and the supermarkets shelves are covered in nothing but Christmas decorations, its that time of year for the most festive of spreads to make an appearance.
A good cranberry sauce is a perfect addition to any sandwich (especially those involving leftovers) and we have a fantastic recipe for one. So grabs some fresh berries, roll up those sleeves and start singing festive songs as we tell you how to make the best cranberry sauce.
What you’ll need:
3000g of cranberries
Juice of 1 orange
Your favourite spirit (optional)
If you want to make a sauce with a hint of your favourite tipple, wash your cranberries, pat them dry and leave in a bowl with alcohol to marinate overnight.
Put your juice and sugar in a pot over medium heat.
Turn it up until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the cranberries and cook until they’ve reduced down.
When the mixture is at your preferred consistency spoon on to a serving dish or store in a sterilised jar.
It can keep in the fridge for about 6 weeks and is perfect for any meal or sandwich throughout the month.
