Before we all head home for Christmas we thought we’d dish out a quick recipe for you to have something a little different over the next few days. At some point you will get peckish in the evening and aim for the leftovers to make yourself a sandwich chock full of the best bits of turkey and ham before someone else gets a chance.
Before you do that though you make want to consider making a spread that might seem out of place for this time of year but will be perfect in giving a plain old sandwich a flavour kick. Why not try and make this lip-smacking sweet and spicy garlic sauce?
What you’ll need:
1 garlic clove minced
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp salt
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
2 tbsp chilli sauce
1tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp mayonaise
1/2 cup water
Combine the garlic, sugar, vinegar, salt and water in a pan.
Bring to a high heat and boil.
Reduce until the sauce is very thick.
Remove from heat.
Add in the chilli sauce, mayonaise and cayenne pepper.
Put in tub and store in fridge.
The sauce will keep for a week and will be the best thing on sliced bread to give your festive meaty sandwich a much needed boost that a dollop of ketchup never could.
